Marquita is a member of the ladies who lead initiative for The Queen’s Foundation. She serves on the Triangle Regional Advisory Committee. Marquita is passionate about TQF because she loves TQF because it gives young girls the opportunity to be great. It doesn't matter where you come from or what you have, TQF equips young girls with the tools they need to grow. Marquita decided to get involved with TQF because she believes organizations like TQF are needed to help reach those girls who get overlooked because of where they are from or what school they go to. When she was growing up, Marquita wishes that there was an organization like TQF for her. She felt called to get involved. There is no way that Marquita can sit back and watch the attack on young girls without getting up and doing something about it.

Before joining the ladies who lead initiative, Marquita received her Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication and Broadcasting from The University of North Carolina at Pembroke. Outside of TQF, Marquita is the Telecounselor & Event Coordinator at William Peace University in Raleigh, NC, she is also a member of the National Council of Negro Women – Capital Area Section. Marquita was featured in the August 2002 issue of American Cheerleading Magazine. She was also the 2006 Miss Black and Gold.

“I really don't think life is about the I-could-have-beens. Life is only about the I-tried-to-do. I don't mind the failure but I can't imagine that I'd forgive myself if I didn't try.”
